How do you win at Pacman?
The win condition is one sentence; the winning is a craft. Here's what separates cleared mazes from lost runs.
The win condition
Clear every regular pellet and power pellet from the maze and the level is complete - on Pacman.free, that records a win for your stats, your streak, and the leaderboard. Lose all your lives first and the run ends unrecorded. Simple, brutal, fair.
The three winning skills
First, route planning: sweep the maze in deliberate lanes instead of improvising, and clear dangerous pockets early. Second, power pellet economy: eat them when ghosts are close (for points) or when your route is blocked (for safety), never on a whim. Third, ghost literacy: each hunter is predictable once you know its personality, and predictable enemies are avoidable ones.
From winning to ranking
Among players who clear the maze, score decides the standings - so full ghost chains (3,000 points per power pellet), every fruit, and clean play add up. Check the daily challenge for a level playing field: everyone gets the identical run, so the comparison is pure skill.

How do power pellets work?
Eating one of the four large flashing pellets scores 50 points and frightens every ghost for a few seconds - they turn blue, reverse direction and flee. Catch them while frightened for escalating points: 200, 400, 800 and 1,600 in one chain. Eaten ghosts' eyes fly home to respawn.
What is a good Pacman score?
On a single maze, 2,000-3,000 points means you cleared it cautiously; 4,000-6,000 means you took fruit and some ghost chains; above that you're squeezing near-full value from every power pellet. The famous arcade perfect score - every pellet, fruit and chain on all 255 boards - is 3,333,360.
Is Pacman luck or skill?
Almost entirely skill. The maze layout is fixed, ghost targeting follows deterministic rules, and the only meaningful randomness is in frightened ghosts' fleeing turns. That's why perfect scores, speedruns and repeatable strategies exist - better play reliably produces better results.
