How are my stats and streaks saved?
Your records are yours from the first game - the only question is whether they live on one device or all of them.
Local by default
Every game tracks played, won, win rate, best score, best time and streak per mode, stored in your browser. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to sign in - clear your browser data and the local copy is gone, which is exactly the case an account protects against.
Synced when signed in
With a free account, the site pulls your saved records when you open a game and pushes updates when you finish one. Merging is optimistic in your favor: counts and bests only ever move in the better direction, so device-hopping never costs you a record.
Leaderboards are separate
The leaderboards record individual cleared runs - guests post with a display name, account holders with their permanent username. Plausibility checks (sane times, sane scores) keep the boards honest. Details in the privacy policy.

Do I need an account to play?
No. Every maze, the daily challenge and multiplayer work as a guest, with your stats saved in your own browser. A free account (one click with Google) adds cross-device sync, a permanent leaderboard name, and streaks that survive switching devices.
Is Pacman.free really free?
Completely. Every game mode, the daily challenge, the leaderboards and online multiplayer are free to play in your browser, with no download and no signup. An optional free account only adds cross-device stats and a permanent name on the leaderboard.
What is the Daily Challenge?
The daily challenge is a single seeded run that every player in the world gets on a given day - same maze, same ghost behavior seed. Clear it and your score is ranked against everyone who beat the same challenge. Miss a day and it's gone, which is what makes streaks worth protecting.
